PROVINCIAL ADMINISTRATION
In line with the Republican Constitution ( Amendment) No.02 of 2016 Article 150, establishes in each Province an Administrative Secretariat to be headed by the Provincial Minister, Permanent Secretary and other staff as prescribed.
OFFICE OF THE PROVINCIAL MINISTER
The office spearheads political, economic and social mobilization for development in the province as a whole. The office of the Provincial Minister ensures the following:
OFFICE OF THE PROVINCIAL PERMANENT SECRETARY
The Provincial Permanent Secretary reports to the Provincial Minister and He / she is the head of administration and the Civil Service in the Province.
The functions of the Office of the Provincial Permanent Secretary include the following:
The Provincial Administration provides supervision and support to Government Departments found at the Provincial and District levels.
The Administration Department provides administrative and logistical support services for the Provincial Administration.
DEPARTMENTS AT THE PROVINCE
The Provincial Administration is supported by a number of departments, which are;
Southern Province is the third largest Province in Zambia, covering an area of 85,283 square kilometers. The Province consist of fifteen (15) Districts, namely; Chikankata, Choma, Chirundu, Gwembe, Ithezi Tehzi, Kalomo, Kazungula, Mazabuka, Monze, Namwala, Livingstone, Pemba, Siavonga, Sinazongwe and Zimba. Among these Districts Pemba, Chikankata and Zimba are new districts.
