PROVINCIAL ADMINISTRATION

In line with the Republican Constitution ( Amendment) No.02 of 2016 Article 150, establishes in each Province an Administrative Secretariat to be headed by the Provincial Minister, Permanent Secretary and other staff as prescribed.

OFFICE OF THE PROVINCIAL MINISTER

The office spearheads political, economic and social mobilization for development in the province as a whole. The office of the Provincial Minister ensures the following:

  • That government policies are understood and implemented in the Province;
  • Mobilization of development resources of the Province;
  • Carrying out regular inspection tours of development activities in the Province; and
  • Maintenance of law and order throughout the Province.

 

OFFICE OF THE PROVINCIAL PERMANENT SECRETARY

The Provincial Permanent Secretary reports to the Provincial Minister and He / she is the head of administration and the Civil Service in the Province.

The functions of the Office of the Provincial Permanent Secretary include the following:

  • Planning and coordinating Development activities in the Province
  • Monitoring the utilization of resource and execution of Districts Development plans and programmes;
  • Consolidating plans and provincial Development plans;
  • Carrying out Statutory and Audit Inspections in all Districts; and
  • Coordinate State and Traditional Ceremonies in the Province.

The Provincial Administration provides supervision and support to Government Departments found at the Provincial and District levels. 

The Administration Department provides administrative and logistical support services for the Provincial Administration.

The Provincial Administration is supported by  a number of departments, which are;
